Sycamore canyon to Chamberlain memorial rock

Sycamore canyon to Chamberlain memorial rock

14.5 miles – 2,750 feet elevation gain

This is an out & back run, so again feel free to adjust your distance.
From Sycamore campground to the rock, it’s 7 miles out, some like to add an additional 1.5 miles to reach the saddle right before Tri-Peaks and then turn around. Some might want to go explore even further, just be aware there is no water, only a spigot at the start of Serrano Canyon trail (which is just 1 mile into Sycamore Fire road, and also the big turn we take to make our way to Serrano Canyon and then to Chamberlain trail.

Starting at the first bathrooms on the day parking lot we run quietly through the sleeping camp ground until we reach the dirt fire road. One mile on this road we take a left onto Serrano Canyon trail which will take us up into Serrano Valley. From there we take a sharp left so we make our way to the Old Boney trail, onto the Chamberlain trail. We run up this single track trail until we reach the famous “Chamberlain Rock”. It’s a local tradition to walk through the split to be freed from all sins.
Parking is available in certain areas along the PCH, you might have to walk a little. Best parking is along the big sand dune west of the Sycamore Campground.

The event is finished.
